How To Choose A Good Plumber Gold Coast

In our homes and work places, things go wrong and as a result there might be some breakages and wearing out of pipes in our bathrooms toilets and even kitchens. Whenever this happens, you surely know that it’s the right time to hire a plumber to fix the damage. Not everyone has personal plumbers or knows how to fix the pipes therefore searching for a good plumber to take care of the mess is called for.

Getting a good plumber who has your interests at heart can be a very hard task, especially if it is your first time. New home owners in a new neighborhood also find it difficult, however you can always find the best one, out of thousand to do the fixing for you. A good plumber should be able to demonstrate their skills and experience for you to be convinced to hire them. The last thing that you want is to have your taps and pipes leaking again after a shoddy service. Therefore it is very important for any home owner to select wisely a good plumber according to their service and experience.

There are many avenues of getting good plumbers. One of them is the internet. Carrying out an internet search can save you time, money and energy. This is because you only have to use your computer and internet. You can narrow down the search to your area of residence to avoid getting millions of plumbers around the world. Then you can always find one that passes your criteria. Also you can take a walk and look for one around your neighborhood, or better still, ask your neighbors and friends for one who is most reliable.

Before you rest at one, there are several factors that you have to consider, such as the level of training they have in this field. Questioning their levels of training will help you settle for the most suitable and professional one. Obviously a well-trained plumber has adequate knowledge in fixing the pipes than a novice one.

Question their legitimacy. Some plumbers cannot be trusted once they are into your house. Some of them may easily turn to become petty thieves thus you should ask them for a card from their company and if necessary make calls to the company to verify that they are indeed the right ones sent. This will make them and their company accountable for any loss of property while they were working at your place.

How to fix your hot water system

Have you run your bath water only to realise its ice cold? Have you jumped in the shower and been sprayed by cold water? If so, chances are you have a problem with your homes hot water system. Don’t stress, there are a few basic things you can try yourself prior to calling a plumber.  If you have a natural or propane gas water system, chances are the pilot has gone out. The pilot is a small flame that ignites the gas burner on your system. When it goes out, first try relighting it, following the directions on the label, which is often on the front of the system. If the pilot doesn't relight, or if it goes out right after lighting, by far the most common cause is a broken thermocouple. The good news: you can usually replace a thermocouple for minimal cost and in less than an hour from a local hardware. You'll get your hot water going without waiting for a pro to show up and save a few dollars!

To replace the thermocouple, be sure to turn off the shutoff valve in the gas line; that is, one quarter turn so that the handle is at a right angle to the pipe. Since working room is tight around the burner, we recommend that you simply unscrew the three nuts at the control valve and pull out the entire burner assembly unit. You'll see either a slot or clips that hold it in its place. Then either unscrew the thermocouple end or pull it out (depending on the water heater) and take it with you to hardware store to find a match. Position it exactly the same way as the old one. The pilot flame should wrap around the thermocouple bulb.

To reattach the three lines to the gas valve, thread the nuts into place with your fingers and hand-tighten them properly. Then snug them up with a quarter to half revolution with a wrench. The metals are soft, so don't over tighten as they will break.

Be sure to test for gas leaks. You must have the pilot lit and the burner on for this test so that gas is flowing through the large tube on the system. Reopen the shutoff valve, relight the pilot, then turn the control valve to the “on” position. When the gas burner is on, use a 50/50 dish soap/water mix to test the screw joints for air bubbles that indicate leaks.

Blocked Toilet Reasons

Have you ever wondered why you have a running toilet? Firstly, it is important that you acknowledge the fact that every hand made device is always bound to break and this is no exception with your toilet. Therefore, in case you realize that your toilet is running, you should never be worried at all; instead, simply take some time and figure out why is running out, and then consider repairing it.
For you establish the main cause of the problem in your toilet, it is paramount to remove the top tank of the toilet and place on a secure location. Try pushing the toilet’s flush lever and examines what happens.
On many occasions, one will be in agreement with the fact that one of the reasons why the toilet runs is simply because one or all of the following has/have problems.
·      Tank ball
·      Ball cork
·      Intake valve and/or
·      Float ball
Having identified the reason why your toilet is running, it is then important to think of a way of repairing it. So how do you fix a running toilet?
There are complicated aspects in the toilet repair that inexperienced cannot handle. Therefore, consider hiring experienced personnel first.
Check if the spare parts in the toilet tank require any replacement or just repair. It is important to note that different people use various mechanisms. However, all these normally lead to the same answers.
Try checking if the chain is in contact with the flapper. It is important to thread the flapper chain using a plastic straw as this prevents long chain from sticking on things. Complete replacement of the chain is another remedy for this. You can achieve this by using a dental floss made loop having a similar length to the chain.
Also, it is important to ensure that the water is filled to the water line as lack of water is what basically makes the toilet to run.
Another tip for fixing the running problem is through adjusting the float and valve. By using your hands, you can pulp up the float. If the action stops the water flow, it is advisable to adjust the float level in order for the tank to stop filling having attained the required amount of water flow, slightly below overflow tube top.
Finally, ensure that the flapper is well cleaned to prevent a repeat of the running. Dirty flappers have always been blamed for the leaking of the toilets. This should then be followed by troubleshooting any other problem in your toilet in order to function normally.

Plumber Gold Coast Tips

Bathroom Plumbing
  1. Having guests visiting for the holidays leads to increases in toilet use, so be sure to tell your guests not to put sanitary products, napkins, or baby wipes in the toilet. Not everyone knows that these items belong in the trash and not in the toilet!
  2. Ask your guests to use all the toilets in the house to reduce the load on a single toilet and decrease the chance of it getting backed up.
  3. Make sure there are no items on top of the toilet tank lid and remove any items you may have hanging near or over the toilet bowl. Guests are not used to the way things are positioned in your home and they may accidentally knock an object into the toilet!
  4. In case of a blockage in your toilet, do not keep flushing: use a plunger to try and dislodge the blockage.
  5. If your toilet keeps running on, check the position of the flapper inside the tank. It has to fit over the hole in the base of the tank, if it’s not fitting properly, use the shut off valve, which is normally located under the tank.
  6. Place hair traps in all showers and tub drains, as you will have extra guests taking showers and that will add to the amount of hair going down the drain.
Kitchen Plumbing
  1. A lot of cooking will be happening in your kitchen during the holidays. Make sure that whoever is helping you in the kitchen knows what should go in the trash, what can go in the bio container and what ought to go in the garbage disposal (if you have one).
  2. Avoid putting pasta, rice, coffee grounds, bones, potato skins, egg shells, lettuce or any large amounts of food down the garbage disposal.  Remember to run cold water when using it.
  3. Be sure to never pour that turkey grease or ham fat down the drain and if you don’t have a garbage disposal make sure you have a strainer in your sinks.
  4. If your kitchen sink (or any sinks!) gets blocked use this vinegar and baking soda solution to help unclogged your drain.
  5. For dishwashers, make sure you’re removing the food scraps from the dishes and cutlery and rinsing them in the sink so that the debris doesn’t block the dishwasher water line.
